I've spent so much of my life playing this instrument that I feel it's become a part of who I am. And while I may not be pursuing a degree in music, that doesn't lessen the impact that being a musician has had on my life. I want people to know I play the Cello so they can judge me for me rather than how I appear to be.

Assignment 25 - Eli Flomenhoft
Perception defines who we are. Someone might perceive you as an asshole, excuse my language. Or they might perceive you as a teasing friend. A cruel taskmaster or a helpful hand. Who we are is all based on perception. But when someone forms an opinion of me I want them to know the instrument I play. My instrument speaks a lot to who I am as a person. Beginning in 3rd grade I began to play the Cello. And I haven't stopped since. Haven't taken a break. And I haven't stopped practicing. I need people to know that I am dedicated. I didn't get to where I am through it being handed to me. While I understand that my circumstances are much more advantageous than most, that doesn't mean that I don't work hard to achieve success. When people ask if I studied for a test I'll often reply with a noncommittal reply such as, " A little bit." But that's because I payed attention in class and did my homework. Rather than snoozing through a dry lecture or copying my friends answers five minutes before class.
