Assignment 1 - Eli Flomenhoft

My name is Eli Flomenhoft and can't say I enjoy any particular subject in school more than another. Mathematics has its moments when everything clicks and you feel like you understand everything you're being taught. That is exhilarating. On the other hand, when a writing piece comes together after weeks of revision and editing. That is a proud moment, which makes me want everyone to read my writing. Then there's history, learning about ancient empires and their accomplishments is, at times, goose bump worthy. But, while those experiences are enjoyable, this year I want to focus on scoring a five on all of my AP tests.

Although school can be interesting at times, summer is always interesting. Whether its hiking mountains thousands of miles away or relaxing at the beach with an interesting book in hand. My favorite part of my summer was traveling across Israel. One particular experience took the cake, and that was reaching the peak of what, at the time, seemed an insurmountable mountain. We were hiking in the Negev Desert in the late afternoon, as to avoid the sun, and were made to hike what looked like a cliff. But, after a grueling hike to the top, in which we were buffeted every way by the wind, we reached the most beautiful and serene vista I have experienced yet. The wind on top of this mountain whipped around me so quickly that I could not hear the person next to me.So we sat on the top of this mountain in silence. Appreciating the power and might of nature while understanding how truly wonderful the world on which we live is.

Nature and everything natural is quite awe inspiring, but the supernatural is just plain awesome. And if I could have any superpower it would  be time travel. Being able to fly or shoot lasers out of your eyes would be fun, but it would attract to much attention. But if I had the ability to travel throughout time I could see first hand the mysteries that plague historians and archaeologists today. I could visit the vikings, mongols, and Kings and Queens. I could satisfy my curiosity and truly understand what happened to the dinosaurs. An additional superpower that would benefit time travel would be immortality. Every one knows that the problem with immortality is that immortals become bored with the time they're in, but with time travel, you can pick up and go live in another era. You could be Jackson Smith in 2018, and then pickup and travel across the ocean with Christopher Columbus in 1492. The possibilities are endless. But if I was limited to just one superpower, it would be time travel, because I don't want to be bored.

A little bit more about myself is that I play the Cello, I run cross country and track, I take Chinese at U.K., and I dance.

I don't visit this website much, but it does have short videos that are quite funny.
