When I was in elementary school, I used to read a book almost every day. In class I remember not paying attention because I was so intrigued with the book I was poorly hiding in my lap. This fascination for books has definitely diminished as I grew older, but a couple books I read over the past year were Enemy at the Gates; Battle for Stalingrad, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and The Great Gatsby.
Enemy at the Gates was an assignment for my World History class last year, but it was fantastic book that detailed the events that occurred during the Battle for Stalingrad. The book reminded me of when I was in elementary school as I was intrigued with how action packed it was. It led me to watch the documentary for the book during the summer, although it was only based on a couple chapters.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was a book I received as a gift from my aunt. The book was interesting because it wasn't a standard book, but it was written in the style of a screen write or script. It reminded me of my Harry Potter fascination as a child and the book discussed how Harry's life was at now that he was a father of three children and worked at the ministry of magic.
The Great Gatsby was also a school assigned book, but after reading it you understand why it is such a famous book; the plot, diction, the imagery Fitzgerald paints in your head. The love triangle and Gatsby's mysterious yet willing-to-do anything for Daisy persona makes the book something that everyone should read at least once.
