I do watch television, mostly to distract me or to have a common link to other people I converse with. Although if tv was deeply frowned upon, and no one watched it, it would no longer be a common thing between us, therefore that makes you question it as a reason. Honestly I don’t really have a strong opinion on what I watch.
Television doesn’t necessarily provide a strong source of entertainment but rather of distraction. I wouldn’t say it is always beneficial, it just depends on how you look at it or what is being viewed. It can be informative than a book for some people or it could also save time since it takes less time to watch an hour long documentary rather than reading a 1200 page book. But can also lead to laziness and aid in procrastination. I would say it’s a very effective way for corporations influencing a humongous number of people, and especially can expose what they’re advertising to the people they may be specifically targeting.
