My Exigency comes from useful knowledge, whether it be first aid courses or a new knot or a particularly impactful piece of philosophy. Because if it's not going to be used or atleast cause an effect in your's or another life whats the point? Useless knowledge would be such eccentricities as "woah dude what if the universe is a simulation and we're all just bits of code" so what? It has no bearing or effect on anyone or anything. This is why I enjoy projects that allow your own course of study or research you can determine what is important and why it's important then act on it, writing about something I'm genuinely interested in is something I actually enjoy. My favorite type of media is also useful information, this sounds rather utilitarian but there's also genuinely useful philosophy that teaches useful methods of thought and coping mechanisms for various ills in your life. My own Exigency demands that I soak up all this information because it could be useful somewhere.
My favorite field of study is definitely history because contrary to popular belief it IS extremely useful, people often assume that the modern world is a new ball game and lessons from the past are no longer applicable. It isn't true though, so many people throughout time have believed that they are a new era a new level of civilization and it simply isn't true. It's what people thought in 1910 after the Europe had stabilized into the longest peace it had had in a long time, then just a few short years later it exploded into the first world war. It's what people thought in 1939 when Chamberlain held aloft a small piece of paper and declared "Peace in our time" then once again just a few short years the second world war happened. History repeats itself more often than people think and that's why it's important to study and learn from.
