Blog post 10 - Kelden "bear bait" Andrews

The thing that scares me the most in the entire world is bears. They're just so much a force of nature they're terrifying. If you encounter a black bear you just have to hope its stupid enough to think you're to big to mess with, because if he doesn't you'll have your face ripped off. I get terrified of bears even though I love the outdoors. When I was camping with my family for example there was a bunch of black bear sightings around our campsite and even though we were in what amounted to cloth cabins (Yurts) I was still thinking and rethinking about what I would do when a bear wandered in at night to eat me. It's also a relatively nonsensical fear simply because they are often stupid enough to be afraid of you and turn tail and run but still they fill me with dread. I'm a relatively anxious person in general which has lead to a fair whack of caution on certain occasion but also just stupid fears. Over the summer I went on a cross country hike with my dad and throughout I was just thinking about how a bear would eat us both and we'd be dead for a while before anyone found us. But then I stopped thinking about it and was fine so, ehh, I realize it's stupid but its still scary.

My most terror inducing moment is relatively benign but has caused literal nightmares since it happened awhile ago. when I was probably 8 I went into a cave with my parents and sister and was doing a tour. I was just walking and turned around to say something to my father in the darkness when I felt an arm on my chest stopping my progress. I turned forward and it was the cave guide stopping me, dropping a quick "watch where you walk" before continuing up onto the front of the group. In front of me, where I in my negligence planned to plant my feet, was a sink hole descending about 20 feet before dropping into darkness. And so I still sometimes have nightmares where I fall in and have to live in the dark never to see the light again.
