Assignment 18 - Eli Flomenhoft

1.  Sitting at the top of "Things To Do Before Highs Schools Over" is learning how to play the guitar. I already know how to play a musical instrument and I've also practiced the guitar on and off. But by the end of high school I want to either be able to play the guitar or be practicing consistently to improve. I have other things I want to do like getting fives on my AP tests and doing well in my classes and winning the State Track and Field meet. But I am already working towards those goals. Thus I would consider those goals to be less important because I am actively working towards them. Whereas I am not even remotely close to being good at or practicing guitar. And it will most likely remain a goal due to the immense work load of junior year and all my extracurriculars. Hopefully by Spring semester Senior year I'll have enough time to practice.

2. When I am through with college I hope to have traveled to Europe. I want to go to these historical sites I've heard of all my life. I want to experience thousands of years of human development. And I don't want to have to wait until I'm old and fragile to do it. While I do understand that there is plenty of rich history in the United States and North America. There is nothing like the Louvre, or the Parthenon, or the gardens of Versailles. I want to experience its wonder and expand my own horizons.

3. Finally, before I stop breathing for good I want to achieve something meaningful. I understand that is a vague idea. But thats alright. I don't know how I can affect the world. Whether it's through politics or technology or even something as small as raising interesting, invested, tax-paying children. I just don't know yet. Everyone wants to have a purpose and everyone wants to affect the world in some way, whether for good or for bad is besides the point. People do not want to feel meaningless and thus they try to change the world around them. And I am no different. I do not want to lead a meaningless life, I want to affect the world in some positive way. Even if it's something small.
