Hi, my name is Bhoomi Shah. One of my personal goals for this school year is to work on my communication skills. I'm naturally a quiet person, and thus sometimes it’s very difficult to communicate with someone efficiently and not feel awkward when having to repeat everything I say. This year, I want to be more open with others and more outgoing too. Another major goal I have is to read more books outside of school which is something I sometimes find difficulty doing. I may start a book, but I get so bored when reading it that I just quit. Some academic goals I have this year are to do well on my PSAT and ACT. I also want to maintain my grades throughout the school year in order to prepare adequately for the end of the year finals and AP tests.
This summer I did two major things that really defined my vacation. First, I went to a summer medical program at the University of Kentucky, known as the AHEC Summer Enrichment Program. Then, I went to India for the first time in eight years. Both were really fun experiences that allowed me to form relations that helped me break my shell. At camp, I enjoyed learning and meeting new people all over Kentucky. I loved hearing their stories and their motivations about being in the medical field. In India, I was introduced to a culture that surprised me with its candidness and faith in God. Both were experiences that helped me grow as a person and learn the value in friendship.
If I could have one superpower, it would most likely be the ability to remember everything. Though I know its a curse in disguise, I can't help but want to never have to review for anything again or deal with the frustration and uneasiness from not knowing something.
I don’t really explore websites, however, my favorite Youtube channel is How to Make Everything. In this channel, a guy is challenged to make what we would call everyday items, like a toothbrush or a suit, from scratch. Even the materials he uses are gathered by him during his travels.
