I love to read, but sadly I don't have much time to devote to reading during the school year. I have, however, been able to read these books.
Hunted by Meagan Spooner. Hunted is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Beauty is the youngest of three daughters who must hunt to provide for her sisters and is set on tracking down the beast who killed her father. Eventually, she gets captured and brought to the Beast's castle. From then on, Beauty works to escape the Beast's grasp.
Ugly American by William J. Lederer. Ugly American is told primarily from the point of view of the American ambassador to the fictional country of Sarkhan. It helps to illustrate the very real flaws present in America's approach to diplomacy.
The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert. Alice and her mother have been running from bad luck their entire lives. Suddenly, when Alice's mother disappears, she must go to the one place her mother told her to avoid, the estate of her dead grandmother, the Hazel Wood.
