Assignment 3- Rhyan Lee

Though I’ve never been out of the country not even out of this region of the US, I’ve still learned a lot through traveling. I travel for the sport that I play, so I get to go to States ranging from Indiana to Florida. I go to at least four different states a year with one of them always being Florida. Through all of this traveling I’ve began an interest in the difference in culture between states. It’s just so amazing that just going to the state beside can present you with people that think differently, work differently, communicate differently, and talk differently. Especially, the talking part. Everytime I go to a more northern state someone comments on my “accent”. It confuses me because I don’t believe I have an accent, but to be fair, to my ears, they have an accent that they may not hear. Another thing I notice and take in about different states is the environment and how people interact with it. While going to Tennessee, it becomes obvious that the terrain is more mountainous, for us driving up and down mountains is a struggle, but for them it’s natural and I think it is so cool that where we leave can dictate our sensitivity and knowledge to our environment. But out of all the aspects I notice, I notice how people treat each other the most. Its interesting to go to one area and see people act a bit more rudely towards one another and then go a couple states away and see people with this unbelievable hospitality and openness.  I’ve learned that cultural differences don’t only exist between countries, but states as well.
