Assignment 4 - Kelden Andrews

For a long time I grew up with fairly standard political ideas, especially for lexington, left of American Center, Right of the global left. This is because both my parents were very conscious of putting their own political beliefs on my sister and I. They are not quite the same anymore because my sister and I have more or less established our views and political discourse is rather fun. So they didn't tell me what to think so I thought what I heard which was Lexington's general political attitude, I didn't really realize how much I had absorbed until people started to say the opposite of what I had ingrained and... I was getting angry with these people. One of my dad's favorite platitudes was "Communism is good on paper but will never work, so it's crap". This was one of my favorite additions to political discussions between friends and family because it was safe, no one would disagree, so no one called me on it. When I realized how deep the political beliefs ran I started to question everything and this was one of the first, at first I decided it could stay my staple phrase. It was good on paper everything got what they wanted no one was poor and everyone was equal sounds great right? So it stuck around for a few more years until about 9th grade. Then I thought of it again I don't remember what brought it on but I assume it was a friend or someone else I had talked to. This person I'm going to assume it was a friend said that it was stealing, and I was taken aback. No one I had told this too had ever said that. I eventually realized he was right. Spreading wealth is stealing.
Just because someone has more than you does not mean that you get to take it, or that you have any right to take it. Now I've come to grips that communism doesn't work on paper, in reality, in a totally morale world, a totally corrupt world or any weird space dimension in between.
