Assignment 4 - Oliver Fister

I tend to err on the side of cynicism, even pessimism when facing many beliefs or ideas. Global warming? We're screwed. America's public education system? Whack. True love? Doesn't exist (Well... I wouldn't go that far on that one). But I am also, perhaps, too lazy to really take much action on any of them, mostly because I feel there isn't anything some teenager can do about much of it at all. I do have, however, one story of when I did take action for something, maybe not necessarily an abstract, intangible belief, but something that I cared about and believed I could change.

For the first two years I've spent at this school, the library's been open before school, starting around 7:30. For myself and several other Academy kids who got dropped off around then, it was a blessing, as it provided a reliable place to hang out before school. However, this year, the library was no longer going to be open before school at all. After some friends alerted me to this, those same friends and I wrote a series of e-mails to Mr. Little and the superintendent to change that. And it worked, somehow! While the library is now only open at around 8:00, it is still a much better alternative to wandering the halls for those precious twenty minutes. And i had something to do with it.
