Within the past year, I have read many books. Some of them were incredibly interesting and enjoyable, others were boring and not worth finishing.
Mosquitoland by David Armold is easily one of my favorite novels. It is about a girl who packs up her life to chase the truth about her mother, and the situations she faced backpacking alone across the country as a teenager. The book was raw and real, discussing many topics in a light I personally don't see often. The story line itself was great and I highly recommend,
Last year for AP World History, I was required to read a historical novel. I initially chose a biography on Isaac Newton, but I became bored and and switched books. I ended up choosing Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, honestly, because it was the shortest book on the list. The beginning was slightly boring, but it took an interesting turn. I was confused in parts, but how much explanation does crying into sauce, prompting your sister to go crazy and run through a field, naked might I add, before joining the Spanish Revolutionaries really need? It was truly an exciting book to say the least. Definitely not something I would choose to read, but definitely not something I regret reading.
