Assignment 7 - Lydia Klumb

College. The topic that is on every junior's mind. I have a love-hate relationship with college. As a younger sibling, I have been forced to think about college since I was in middle school. I went on every college tour with my sister, and really only determined what I absolutely DO NOT want from a college. I would like a school that has around ten to fifteen thousand students, but also has an honors college. I want to be able to study abroad and have a large amount of community involvement through volunteer work. Most of all, I want a school that will challenge me academically, but also allow some free time so I can destress without worrying about whether or not hanging out with friends will result in pulling an all-nighter to finish up a project.

I plan on going to med school, so graduating undergrad debt free is a huge deal to me. Because of this, I don't know yet where I will end up going. I do however know what I want to study. I plan on being a chemistry major and psychology minor (possibly double major). I also want to have the opportunity to do some form of undergraduate research.

The main thing I want to get out of college is an education that is well-rounded. By this I mean an education that teaches me classroom knowledge, but also life skills that I can take with me into my adult life and into the real world. I also want to be able to make connections, and to learn how to be a successful leader and community member. Whatever college I end up going to, I expect to learn more about the world around me and how I might fit into that world.
