Assignment 8 - Grace Payne

Fears: Elevators, dripping water, loud noises
Annoyances: Having to repeat things, when I say something to someone and they don't listen
Accomplishments: All A's, 34 on my ACT
Confusions: Physics
Sorrows: Dogs dying
Dreams: Traveling, having success, helping others
Idiosyncrasies: huge sports fan
Risks: applying for things (I don't take many risks, I'm kind of a wimp)
Beloved Possessions, Now and Then: my dog (now), my stuffed bunny (then)
Problems: Procrastination

You're probably thinking that my fears are not conventional. I'm not afraid of heights, or spiders, or anything like that. Instead, I'm afraid of dripping water. When I was younger, probably about seven, my best friend and I were playing with my water hose outside of my house. At the time, we had a nozzle on the hose that allowed it to spray in different pressures. I attempted to turn off the hose using the nozzle, but it got stuck, and I couldn't turn it off. I was really young, so in my brain I thought that was the only way to turn off the hose, so I panicked. My dad then came out and turned off the hose the way you would normally turn off the hose, and everything was fine. I, on the other hand, was scarred. Now, I can't see water that I can't control (leaking water, dripping water) without freaking out.
It's a pretty similar story for loud noises. When I was about four, I was at a friend's birthday party at some gymnastics place. While we were eating cake, the fire alarm went off. I don't remember a whole lot after that, but I know from other people telling me that I couldn't get out. Also, when I was two, we sat directly under some fireworks, and I did not particularly enjoy it. Now, I can't listen to loud or repetitive noises (fireworks, fire alarms, car alarms) without freaking out.
My fears are pretty uncommon, but they have legitimate backstories.
