Assignment 9- Hampton Jefferson

War should never be the first option when attempting to achieve peace, but sometimes it is the only one that will work. Negotiations are an obvious first option for two countries who have a problem with each other. But what if one side refuses to negotiate? Threaten them? That often escalates quickly into war. If they are trading with each other then institute tariffs? That would only increase tensions and would likely solve nothing. Sometimes war is the only option to end the conflict. I believe that attacks on one's country or if one's ally is going to war then the one has a duty to go to war. I would argue the only time it is morally just to go to war is if an attack has been carried out on innocent people such as 9/11. However, if the purpose for war is expansion or to show strength, then I do not believe it is justified.
