Assignment 14 - Eli Flomenhoft

This year, unusually, my Thanksgiving table had over half the food left. Usually on Thanksgiving it is only some of my extended family but this year my brother brought his wife and friend, my father brought his sister, and my grandmother invited her friend. Due to this sudden increase in the amount of people at Thanksgiving this year my grandmother thought it prudent to make almost three times as much food. This is what caused the abundance of food that was left after the meal, which was over half.
I enjoy Thanksgiving, but not because of the food. I enjoy it because it's the first time I get to see my brothers after several months. I of course see them again during the winter, but Thanksgiving is the first time that I see them after a long absence. I didn't appreciate this part of Thanksgiving as much until my brothers left for college. And now I am grateful for the chance to see them over Thanksgiving.
Finally, I don't have a strange or wonderful memory of Thanksgiving. But what always sticks with me is laughter and volume the dinner table has when everyone is gathered in one place. It creates an atmosphere that is hard to recreate at other times of the year. At no other point would so many of my family members gather together. Unless of course someone had a wedding. So while I may not have a most wonderful memory of this holiday, this holiday is one of my favorites because I get to see so many of my relatives.
