Assignment 14 -Michael Sellers
Thanksgiving for my family is always held at my aunt's house in Blythe,Georgia every year. This small country town, with a population of only 706 (as of 2017), lies outside of the city of Augusta. The whole extended family on my dad’s side comes together to have Thanksgiving lunch instead of dinner; the primary reason for this being that my family arrives at her home at around noon. Often times we hear the sounds of gunshots and four wheelers as we eat our food. I suppose this is just part of the neighbors’ Thanksgiving traditions. One unfortunate aspect of going to my aunt’s house in the middle of nowhere for Thanksgiving is that there is no wifi connection out there. As a result, I pass my time by wandering around the gravel roads or throwing trash away at the town dump with my aunt. I’m sure most people wouldn’t consider this a fun way to spend the holiday, but the idea of seeing my family from Georgia excites me every time Thanksgiving comes around.
