Thanksgiving, like many holidays in my family, involves the awkward juggling of loyalty between my mom's and dad's relatives. Each group of people have their own established traditions and meetings, and both expect our full attendance and agreement. I'm sure many people can relate, but it is for this reason that I find holidays incredibly stressful. Its not that I don't appreciate my relatives, far from it. However, even a master secretary would have extreme difficulty keeping track of each persons political, social, and relationship statuses. This year, for example, I had to endure a long conversation in opposition of trans-gendered people, an issue I could do nothing on but sit and bite my tongue in embarrassment to the strangers around us.
That being said, I cant be all negative. We went to carter caves with my dad's side of the family. I got to see a bat and go in a cave for the first time. The landscape was novel and magnificent, and we were able to enjoy incredible arches and cliffs in great weather.
