Thomas Noll - Assignment 15

I love the logistics of cities. The massive coordination of infrastructure to transport people and goods through a massive and dense area all while maintaining visual and atmospheric appeal. I will take the Chicago metro for example. Elevated over the streets, the complexity of this system is clearly exposed. It serves not only as an effective and viable transportation system, but also as a unique and visually appealing (at least for me) mark on the area. I want to understand why this train line goes down this street and connects this way, how the network is organized to minimize traffic and serve the most people, and how this space of and around the line can be used best. Here at home I bike a lot, and my eyes are turned to the slowly growing number of safe paths and parks that connect the extremities of the city with the downtown. I crave for more and compulsively check up on the parks and recreations page for new plans. Its worth mentioning, contrary to what you would expect, our bus system is actually rather excellent, and could have great potential if used by the more affluent members of our community.
