Assignment 19 - Grace Payne
I've received various pieces of generic advice throughout my life, but only one piece has really stuck with me. I've always gotten good grades, and I want to continue getting good grades. Because of that, I've always had a tendency to put way too much pressure on myself. Grades that some people are okay with don't feel like enough for me. Therefore, the piece of advice that has stuck with me (and that pretty much everyone has told me) is to just relax, and not be so hard on myself. It seems so basic, and it really is, but it's a reminder that I need to hear often. Whenever I get down about a grade that maybe I wasn't happy with, I can hear my parent's voices in the back of my head telling me that one grade doesn't define me, and that if I'm truly unhappy with the grade then I need to study harder next time. This piece of advice has led to me to enjoy school more, because I've tried to put less pressure on myself to be perfect.
