Assignment 17 - Tommy Svetich
Out of all the directors in Hollywood, Ridley Scott has directed two outstanding movies that I have enjoyed viewing. The first I saw in theatres the week of its release, and it has left a mark on me since and today is still one of my favorite movies, The Martian. The other movie was an exciting true story yet thriller that I could not take my eyes off of, Black Hawk Down. These two movies seem extremely different, and they are in some ways, however, they both depict people fighting for their lives and facing the challenges ahead of them. Matt Damon scientifically grew plants on Mars and survived harsh conditions, endured through his journey to find his way home, while almost dying in space. In Black Hawk Down, the soldiers were not expecting such a long battle, yet fought and fought in the terrible town they were stuck in, fighting for their lives and each other. Black Hawk Down being a war movie, of course, while The Martian is not so gruesome.
