Assignment 20 - Tommy Svetich

Since the dawn of my 6th birthday, a soccer ball has been at my feet. So for this post, a how-to on properly kicking a soccer ball!

Step One: Whether you are on the move or the ball is still, the most essential aspect of kicking a ball is your plant foot. You should land your non-kicking foot directly next to the ball, but not too close. You then have to point your toes in the direction you desire to kick the ball.

Step Two: When kicking a standing ball, you may desire either a proper run-up or a few quick steps. Find a distance away from the ball where your strides will not inevitably become awkward (It helps if you place your plant foot next to the ball, and take large steps backward).

Step Three: When running towards the ball eagerly to let your pain and anger out, keep control of your steps. Begin with short quick steps to then merge into stride. Remember the plant foot!

Step Four: The time is here to kick that ball! But, you don't want a sorry excuse for a swing at that ball. You want a firm kick. Therefore, when your plant food is set and you're swinging your leg, point your toes downward and tighten your ankle, leaving the top of your foot facing the ball. Swing through will the goal of hitting the ball with the bone on the top of your foot.

Step Five: Score Goals!
