I can’t really say that I’ve had any unusual circumstances that make me an extremely unique individual, but there are some cool things about my life and family. My mom grew up in an extremely small town with very little jobs and opportunity, so many people in my family had to provide for themselves in other ways. Around half of the family has served in the army or navy and basically everyone else ran their own businesses. From catering companies to hair salons my family had established themselves as business owners in that small town. If you go there and ask someone about the Bentons or the Crenshaws, it is impossible that they don’t know of either.
My mom grew up a military brat working and helping at family businesses and she was one of the first in her family to go to college. Now looking at my mom’s generation there are scientists, doctors, authors, and even more in the family and I’m fortunate to have a family such as this. To belong to a family based on hard work and doing things for yourself will definitely motivate me through college and hopefully through med school because I want to be the next doctor in my family.
