Assignment 5- Abby Hardin
As a child, I loved television. I had seen almost every episode of any Disney show, loved to watch Nickelodon, and would watch Cartoon Network with my brother. It was a great form of mindless entertainment for a child, and a great babysitting service for moms who needed to get in a nap. As I left elementary school and entered middle school, however, I watched T.V. less and less. I would watch more "adult" shows with my mom and step dad after dinner, but other than that, I spent most of my time doing other things. Now, I never watch T.V. I may put on Netflix while I do my homework or when I want to relax, but I never watch classic cable television. With services like Netflix and Hulu, I think classic television is becoming increasingly irrelevant. Why wait 3 more hours to watch Grey's Anatomy when you can watch it now on Netflix? Even though I do prefer the immediate gratification of being able to watch what you want, I don't enjoy sitting and doing nothing but watch a show for an hour. Usually, I just don't have that time. I do occasionally binge some Criminal Minds, though, especially on a school break.
